Your mission

We are currently seeking experienced Process Engineers to join our team at our U.S. subsidiary located in Birmingham, Alabama. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in driving continuous improvement and operational excellence on the shop floor for our customers.

Ideal candidates are passionate about process optimization, hands-on problem-solving, and supporting production teams in a dynamic manufacturing environment. In this role, you will be instrumental in enhancing safety, efficiency, and compliance with production standards.

Your tasks and responsibilities:
  • Design and implement systems to enhance process capability.

  • Identify key process characteristics and define appropriate control limits.

  • Conduct, update, and develop countermeasures for potential Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA).

  • Develop Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) inspection content to support process control.

  • Lead continuous improvement projects related to model changes, new technologies, process modifications, and cost reductions.

  • Ensure product and process integrity through Manufacturing Process Standards (MPS) and routine process audits.

  • Establish and sustain processes that prioritize safety, ergonomics, quality, efficiency, and cost effectiveness.

  • Perform capability studies and audits to uphold the highest standards of product quality.

  • Investigate process and product issues, implementing and verifying effective countermeasures in collaboration with releted departmens.

  • Maintain equipment and processes in optimal condition.

  • Analyze workstation layouts, establish standard times using empirical and standard data, and validate process times to ensure optimal process design.

  • Plan for product changes, assessing their impact on processes, equipment, and tooling.

  • Participate in production trials alongside relevant departments and ensure resolution of any identified issues.

  • Support resolution of quality audit findings from audits (GFP, CPA, APA and others) 

  • Develop specifications for equipment and tooling.

  • Support training initiatives for assembly team members, team leaders, and group leaders on process updates.

  • Evaluate and assess the viability of alternative production processes.

Your profile
Must have:
  • Bachelor or Master degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or in a related area or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in manufacturing or process engineering (automotive industry preferred).
  • Strong analytical and technical background in process control, failure mode analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; able to interpret data and present actionable insights.
  • Demonstrated experience working in cross-functional teams and navigating a dynamic shop-floor environment.
Nice to have:
  • Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD and digital layout tools.
  • German language skills or experience with German OEM systems.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, MPS standards, and TPM methodology.
  • Creative and analytical thinking
  • Excellent communication and moderation skills
  • Ability to make difficult decisions
  • Good organizational skills
